Phra Somdej - Kru Wat Khun Intapramul

Browse the english language forums about these amulets and you will be totally confused. Many are filled with inaccurate  and misleading information , a result of an extended and unfortunate debate over the exact provenance of these beautiful pims.

The conflict of opinion has risen over claims that these amulets were blessed by Buddhachan Toh, some beliive he did others dont, but in general the balanced view is that there is a possibility but the case has yet to be proven conclusively either way.

Pra Somdej Kru Khun Intapramul amulets, apart from their age, are very interesting indeed as any serious collector will attest. They are remarkably similar to amulets created by Somdej Buddhachan Toh, Wat Rakhang, both in design and composition.

All ancient amulets, which are called “Pra Somdej ”,  will have been created by senior monks who were at the very least appointed by Somdej Toh , for example Somdej Pra Buddhachan Tor, Somdej Pra Sungkarachjao Sook Gaitern.

What is known for sure is that Somdej Buddhacharn Toh had visited this temple on a number of occasions to pay homage to the reclining Buddha. It is believed by some experts that he would have at the very least supported the creation of these amulets if not created by himself.

Many people firmly believe that he did create these amulets and further more many competitions permit these amulets in the Somdej Toh class, although it should be said that these are generally in Angtong and surrounding provinces.

The Angtong Thai Amulet Society believe they can prrove conclusivelyy that they were indeed created/blessed by Buddhachan Toh, whilst other mainstream societies will not offer certification or indeed support claims either way until there is substantial evidence.

My personal view is that there may not yet be conclusive evidence that they were created by Buddhachan Toh but I believe there is compelling evidence to suggest that he was involved in some way, maybe only blessing them.

Created by Buddhachan Toh?, its the 5 million dollar question and at the end of the day its really a personal preference and belief. There are many articles and forums on the internet that discuss this very topic, the best unfortunately are  in the Thai language, with the English language counterparts filled with a lot of guess work and misleading information.

You should be aware of the considerable number of fake Wat Khun In amulets on the market, and if you are not sure what you are buying it would be my advice only to buy those pims that have certificates issued by the Angtong Thai Amulets Society.

A number of our pims come with this certification which it is important to9 note is only issued for the original pims.

You should also be aware that there are a number of remakes blessed at the temple and although genuine are not first generation and are typically sold at relatively low prices, usually 20 Dollars or so.

As a result of this very heated debate all our Wat Khun In amulets are now issued with certificates from the Angtong Thai Amulets Society.

The Thais are no better and one website in particular that features in my hall of shame for stealing content from thai-amulets.com and selling fake amulets is continuing to further the dissemination of false and misleading information through ignorance. Be warned and do not purchase from this website amulet-collection.blogspot.com

Unfortunately like many others he is unable to dis-associate Somdej Toh from these amulets which he claims not to be genuine. Ignorant claims made by a self proclaimed expert on the basis of an assumption/creator and not on the authenticity of the amulet... a novice mistake!

So lets be entirely clear, these amulets are genuine and that is acceptefd fact as is the approximate age. The only dispute is who created them...really simple and straight forward, yet often made so complicated.

This is an example of a typical certificate that woukld be issued with a genuine first generation pim.

There are seven classes of pim, some of which are quite difficult to distinguish to the untrained eye. Ther first four pims were discovered at an earler date than the last three, which as a consequence fetch much higher prices as they are considerably rarer.

1.Pim Pra Bhatarn (Chairman Buddha Image style)

2.Pim Yai (Large size)

3.Pim Song Chedi (Chedi-shape)

4.Pim Lek or Pim Kanaen (small size)

5.Pim Jet Chan Ok Rong Hu Baisri (Extremely rare)

6. Pim Yai (Jumbo) (Extremely rare)

7. Pim Kaiser (Extremely rare)

Pim Prathan

Pim Pra Prathan and Pim Yai are very similar to each other but the body of Buddha Image on Pim Pra Prathan is thicker and bigger than that on Pim Yai.

Pim Yai

Pim Song Chedi

Pim Jet Chan Hu Baisri (Very Rare)

Pim Lek (Kanaen)

Pim Lek or Pim Kanaen has quite a unique design, the style is known as “Silpa Noon Tum”, used later by many famous monks during the period B.E.2460 -B.E.2480, for example  Luang Poo Iam of Wat Nung and Luang Poo Sook of Wat Makhamtao.

Note: Pim Jet Chan, Pim Kaiser, Pim Yai (jumbo) were discovered in very limited numbers and is by far the rarest and the most expensive of all the pims. Pim Lek is also considered rare and prices equal if not exceed those of the larger pims
