Wat Pai Lom was the place of his instruction and where he received the name of "Manunyo."
Once ordained for the monkhood, he travelled to Wat Lahaan Rai for the Buddhist Lent, where he became a disciple of the Venerable Grandfather Tim in order to dedicate himself to learning holy disciplines and Buddhist supernatural powers from the Venerable Grandfather Tim.
He received instruction in various chants in their entirety from the Venerable Grandfather Tim who held nothing back, fully instructing him in all aspects. He studied until he had developed a clear understanding of these matters and was adept at performing them
Once he had developed expertise in the supernatural matters that he had studied, a love of these aspects led him to seek instruction from the Venerable Father Peng Sasano at Wat Lahaan Yai, who had formerly served as a royal guard for Krom Luang Chumphorn Khet Udomsak and studied in the powers of the supernatural with the Venerable Grandfather Suk at Wat Pak Klong Makham Tao.
Possessing the power of invulnerability, he would demonstrate this by writing one single letter of ancient script on a lead slate for someone to attempt to shoot, whereby the bullet would never leave the gun. When the Venerable Father Sakorn had sufficiently been instructed by the Venerable Father Peng, he received advice from the Venerable Grandfather Tim to go and study with the Venerable Grandfather Hin at Wat Nong Sanom, during which time he was blessed by the Venerable Grandfather Hin's imparting of his knowledge.
After his study of the supernatural with the Venerable Grandfather Hin, the Venerable Father Sakorn travelled to study with the Venerable Grandfather Som at Wat Ban Chong, Amper Phan Thong, Chonburi Province, who was yet another monk possessing supernatural powers in the eastern region. The Venerable Father Sakorn studied until he had completed a regimen of courses, his curiosity and interest leading the Venerable Father Sakorn to receive instruction from many and various other great masters of the supernatural
An amazing story to note is that when a marine soldier stepped on a landmine, he was propelled into the air and spun around. His friends then ran to see him, only to discover that he had not been harmed in any way. When it was found that this marine was wearing only an amulet of Ajahn Sakorn around his neck at the time, a lot of people came to ask for these amulets from the Venerable Father.
Venerable Father Sakorn received the royal title of "Phra Kru Chan Tho" or Holy Instructor, Master Level,
In 1965 A.D., the Holy Instructor Kliangtham Thiyo, the ninth Abbot of Wat Nong Krab, passed away and the inhabitants of Nong Krab travelled to see the Venerable Grandfather Tim at Wat Lahaan Pai in order to entreat for the return of the Venerable Father Sakorn Manunyo to become the Abbot of Wat Nong Krab. The Venerable Grandfather Tim granted his permission.
The Venerable Father Sakorn returned to become the Abbot of Wat Nong Krab from that time forward. Even though he had become the Abbot of Wat Nong Krab, he did not forsake the Venerable Grandfather Tim as his mentor and often returned to pay respect and always see to the care of the Venerable Grandfather Tim until the Venerable Grandfather Tim passed away in 1975 A.D.
The Venerable Father Sakorn was the guiding force in arranging the funeral of the Venerable Grandfather Tim, as a true disciple should, until other followers of the Venerable Grandfather Tim praised and admired the Venerable Father Sakorn. In his pursuit of varied supernatural knowledge, the Venerable Father Sakorn never deserted his study of Buddhist disciplines and when he received the title of Abbot of Wat Nong Krab, a historical temple of more than 200 years which had once been razed to the ground, he was not inactive as Abbot.
Rather, he refurbished, reconstructed and maintained the new buildings for the use of monks and Buddhist laymen in practicing their religion. Another special ability of the Venerable Father was that he possessed talent in sculptural arts and fine arts, including wood carving, sculpting patterns and mural drawing murals, as well as the pasting of gold leaves. He therefore included his own hands-on work to the renovation and construction of the various temple structures.
